District 82 Pinball Classics Mini-Tournament – Morning:
Qualifying Portion
The format will consist of 7 Rounds of play in groups of 4 (3 players if necessary)
One game will be played per round per group
Scoring will be 7-5-3-1 or 7-4-1
All games will be drawn randomly but will all be on the older non-DMD games
First round will be random seeding. Subsequent rounds will be swiss style seeding.
Once the 7 rounds are completed the tournament is over except for the top 4 players
Finals Portion:
The top 4 players will play a 4 game group multi-match play playoff to determine final position. Any ties will be broken with 1 game playoffs on non-dmd games to determine final seeding. Highest seeded player will be given choice to pick a bank of pre-selected machines or to choose their player order 1st in the finals. Then next highest seeded player gets to pick games or playing order next based on what highest seeded player picked, etc. Only 1 person could pick the games then everyone else picks their playing order.
After games and playing order have been picked they will play all 4 games at the same time in a “multi-matchplay” format with 7/5/3/1 scoring. Player 1 plays ball 1 on game 1, when that ball drains they step up to game 2 play ball 1–At same time player 2 steps up to first game plays ball 1 when that ball drains they move to game 2 and play ball 1. All players will play games and positions in order to complete the 4 game bank. This takes about 45 minutes for these 4 games. The player with the highest total points from the playoff is the winner of the tournament. All ties will stand for IFPA points except a tie for 1st place. Ties for trophies and 1st place will be broken with 1 game playoff with higher seeded player getting to pick any Non-DMD game or player order for playoff.
Due to IFPA Rules I need to have at least 10% of the field in any final. If we have over 40 players at this tournament I will expand the playoff field to 8 players and 6 games played. Then 2 groups of 4 (seeds 1,4,5,8 and 2,3,6,7) will play 3 games each multi-matchplay format with 7/5/3/1 scoring. Top 2 advance bottom 2 eliminated. Then top 4 play 3 games for the win.
